The Digital Culture of Metropolitan New York (DCMNY) is a cooperative collection of digital materials from libraries, archives, museums and historical societies in the New York City area.
The collection contains diverse holdings such as photographs, letters, manuscripts, and more. Collections include those from the White Plains Public Library, the Lesbian History Archives, and the Sailors’ Snug Harbor Archives of Maritime College, to name just a few. These collections are not complete as new material continues to be added.
One of the collections is from Hostos College. Their Hostos Art and Culture Collection features promotional cards with original artwork that documents musical performances, gallery exhibitions and art installations that have taken place at Hostos Community College. One of the cards depicts a performance by a Puerto Rico performing arts troupe.
Members of the Metropolitan New York Library Council make their material available online through the DCMNY. With assistance from the DPLA Service Hub, the Empire State Digital Network, many collections from the DCMNY will be available on the DPLA website.
