The 12th Annual Genealogy Librarians’ Seminar is planned for Friday, October 16th at the Ohio Genealogical Society, 611 SR 97 W, Bellville OH 44813 (half mile east of Exit 165 on I-71 just south of Mansfield). The theme this year is “Educating the Librarian to Better Help Others”. The speakers/program – Tom Neel, OGS, on Exploring Naturalization Records; Gwen Mayer, Hudson Library & Historical Society, on Genealogical & Historical Programming Nuts & Bolts; Lisa Long, Ohio History Connection, on Institutional Records, Ohio’s State Hospitals and Developmental Centers; and Amy Dawson, Cleveland Public Library, on Its Electric, Publicizing Your Archival Collections (EAD FACTORy). Fee $15 (or $25 with lunch). Payment may be made at www.ogs.orgvia the events pop-up box – more details there too and forms to print out. This is an educational gathering for professionals who work in the genealogical and local history field in Ohio’s libraries. We get local history librarians, Ohio chapter volunteer librarians, and folks just interested in the topics – and we have FUN! It’s good to meet the people that you talk to via social media in the field. Click HERE for details about the days events and registration.
